Technical Job Skills
"Technical skills are those abilities acquired through learning and practice. They are often job or task specific; in other words, a particular skill set or proficiency required to perform a specific job or task. Also called "hard skills," as opposed to soft skills, which are personality and character traits" (Investopedia, 2010).
An employee benefits when they have industry skills by increasing their chances of employment, because the employer would have less training and skills to provide them which saves the employer money.
Employment Skills = Transferable Skills = Essential Skills
My Transferable Skills......
"Transferable skills are general skills you can use in many jobs. You gain these skills from previous jobs, projects, voluntary work, sport, your home life, hobbies, and interests. They enable you to be adaptable and flexible in case you need to change your job" (Nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk, 2012
"People with good transferable skills are in demand. When applying for a job, it will be necessary to know which of these skills you possess, so that you can ‘sell yourself’ to prospective employers"(University of Bradford, n.d.)
