About Me......

My name is Jackie Afunyah. My main goal in life from a tender age has been an interest of making others; myself feel and look beautiful in terms of physical and mental well being. One of my life’s mantras is. "Beauty is skin deep". My belief is that beauty comes from within, hence the liking to assist individuals using different therapeutic and relaxing methods.

My main aspiration is to empower myself with the highest knowledge and qualification in the spa industry. This will create further opportunities to make me marketable and professional. To enable me to meet the ever-evolving spa and beauty industry as well as assist me to give my clients an enjoyable, relaxing and satisfactory experience.

I am currently studying at University of Derby, Buxton for my degree in International Spa Management and in my second year. I choose this University to develop myself and to gain extensive knowledge and skills in the spa business, because it is one of the best universities that offer this program. Considering the program leader is the creator of this degree program and all the lecturers having a pragmatic knowledge and well connected in this industry, makes it the perfect place to acquire and develop my potential.

During my training with Decleor, I was offered a part-time job by the owner of Holistic Beauty in Earls Court who also attended the training and witnessed my demonstration of competency.

Due to family challenges, I had to register as a self-employed mobile therapist for flexibility, to work around my children. Previously, I had developed an excellent interpersonal communication skill, leadership skills, teamworking skills, negotiation and persuasion skills working in the retail industry, rising from a sales consultant to the position of a departmental manager for Royal Worcester and Spode China Company.
